Course description

This vocational course based at New Milton is for people who wish to follow careers in the exciting, new and rapidly growing industry of beauty and complementary therapies.  This full time course aims to prepare students to work competently, safely and effectively with clients using a range of treatments.

Entry requirements


For this level 2 course you must be at least 16 years old and have a minimum of 4 Cs at GCSE including Maths, Double Science and English Language.  You need to be keen to work with people and be prepared to take part in case study work both in College and in your own time.

Progression onto Year 2 is dependent on successful completion of the ITEC Level 2 Diploma for Beauty Specialists. 


Students will achieve certification in the different elements of the course to reflect their proficiency in the wide range of skills taught.   Assessment methods vary for each of the different units.  Students will be expected to complete multiple choice exams, written case studies, practical assessment, portfolio assessment and Tutor assessments.  Students will be set regular homework assignments.

Financial information

Costs:  All students will need to purchase a uniform at the cost of approximately £55 and the 'basic equipment kit'  (approximate cost £250) at the beginning of the course. 

In the second year students will need to purchase the Aromatherapy essential oils kit from the College (approximate cost £55).

Future opportunities

This course will enable you to progress into employment within Beauty Therapy, Complementary Therapies and related industries.  Opportunities are varied and include work in salons, health spas, fitness clubs, hotels and cruise ships.  This level 2 complementary therapy course can also lead to study in higher education for degrees.
