Diploma in Foundation Studies (Art and Design) at King Edward VI College, Nuneaton

Course description

The course will help develop individual strengths and help identify specific areas of study. Students will build up a professional portfolio and be guided on interview techniques in preparation for University. They will be given help and support in choosing and applying for courses. Students are allocated their own individual studio space and have access to workshops throughout the year with the opportunity to attend workshops with local artists and visit several art galleries. They will plan and create a major project which culminates in a final exhibition in June.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 1 A Level (Art & Design subject is preferable) + 4 GCSE's Grade A*-C (including English). Also subject to a successful interview and production of a portfolio of recent work.

Financial information

Students who are 18 before the 31 August pay a fee of £50 at enrolment to cover the cost of all life drawing sessions and an initial sketchbook. Students who are over 18 on the 31 August, please refer to the college website for fee information.

Future opportunities

In 2014 70% of Art Foundation students achieved a distinction with 100% success rate gaining on average 3 offers of places at universities including their first choice.

This course is offered as a third year, full-time optionfor students who wish to prepare for any Art & Design BA course at a UK University.
