Economics AS A2 at Wrenn Academy

Course content

Economics is an important subject concerned with understanding how people make choices in a world where resources are scarce.  From this, Economics can also be considered as the ‘science’ of studying business and money. The chief benefits to be gained from studying Economics include a detailed understanding of how the economy works and seeing what role the Government plays in managing the level of economic activity.  This is an ideal background for someone intending to specialise in business or finance.  Economics is also highly useful for understanding how and why political decisions are made.  To this extent, Economics complements many other social sciences including Politics, Sociology, History and Geography.Economics can be studied successfully without any prior knowledge of business.  You will be introduced to all the concepts needed to score highly in the final examination.  That said, mathematical competence, particularly understanding graphs, will be very useful.
