Performing Arts at Thrybergh Academy and Sports College
This qualification is ideal for students who have a keen interest in dance. In addition to helping learners acquire subject knowledge, this course promotes fitness, a healthy lifestyle, team working and creativity.
Students will complete 4 units over the course which will require learners to perform in front of an audience and camera. These units are:
Unit 1: Critical Appreciation of Dance (42301) Written Paper – 1 hour 50 marks – 20%
Unit 2: Set Dance (42302) Practical Examination Solo Performance – 1–1½ minutes 30 marks – 20%
Unit 3: Performance in a duo/group dance (42303) 3 – 3½ minutes Controlled Assessment 30 marks – 20%
Unit 4: Choreography (42304/A and 42304/B)
Task A: Solo Composition 1–1½ minutes 20 marks – 15%
Task B: Choreography – solo/duo/group (Solo – 1½ – 2 minutes; duo/group – 2½ – 3 minutes) 40 marks – 25%
