English GCSE at Bradford College

Course description

Your GCSE English course is taught in the English Workshop teaching area. We offer classes in the morning, afternoon and evening (except Friday).

We are very proud of our success rate, which is consistently above the national benchmarks.

We enrol from September to December.

Course content

You will have an initial assessment, then we will help you to work on developing your reading, writing, speaking and listening skills. In order to be entered for the English GCSE examination, you will complete Four controlled assessments for reading and writing, and three spelling and listening assessments.

Entry requirements

GCSE English/English Literature at a minimum of Grade D or E.
If you do not have these qualifications you will be considered for the course if you reach the required standard on our initial English assessment.

  • Four controlled assessments for reading and writing
  • Three spelling and listening assessments
  • 2 x 1-hour written examinations in June
