Course description

What will I study?
The course is designed to provide a broad knowledge and understanding of science through an active experience of the scientific environment, it includes:
• Science at work
• Scientific analysis
• Monitoring the activity of the human body
• Cells and molecules
• Chemicals for a purpose
• The physics of sport
• Investigating the scientist’s work
• Sampling, testing and processing
• Synthesising organic chemicals
• Materials for a purpose
• Applications of biotechnology
• Working waves

Entry requirements

Four GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at grade Merit or above with Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 2 and a good reference. If you do not already have qualifications in English and Maths you will need to do a short test.

Assessment

The qualification is gained through continuous assessment and external examination.

Future opportunities

Progression to a higher level course or into employment.
