Future opportunities

The course offers you a specialist work-based qualification to support a career related to childcare or to progress onto studying a Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce or a related subject. With further training, you could continue to develop your career by working for a children's nursery or use the qualification to support further study for entering a career in teaching. The course is work based which means that you can earn and learn at the same time whilst developing the skills, understanding and knowledge that many employers in all areas of child care are looking for. The number of single parent families is increasing and more two-parent families have both parents working. The need to ensure young children receive high quality early years education is growing. There is an increasing demand for qualified and trained staff who want to take the opportunity to enter this growth industry. York Learnin works in partnership with employers across the York and North Yorkshire area. We match your skills and interests with employer requirements and, providing you both agree, your learning and employment can begin at the same time. If you are already employed then a learning assessment can be arranged and you can join an appropriate programme.
