English Language and Literature - A Level at Bexleyheath Academy

Course description

Designed with a focus on the integration of language and literature, this specification enables students to see how linguistic and literary methods are related and to explore these links in their work.

Offering clear skills progression from GCSE, these courses allow students to build on the skills and knowledge already gained and prepare for their next steps.

Class discussions give you a chance to discuss your ideas and those of your classmates. In the process, you can form your early insights into a more complex understanding of the text. As you develop your independent reading skills and your knowledge of how texts work, you’ll be able to make critical discoveries about anything that you read, thus it is essential that you enjoy reading! Also, trips to museums and the theatre fuel further interest and in turn consolidate learning.
