Why Study Business?

Look around you, listen to the news, go shopping, take transport or listen to politicians, Business is all around us. The A level Business and Economics course unpicks national and international business and the economics of decisions made. This course gives you skills to set up and successfully run your own business and develops core business acumen to manage, organise and influence business on a global scale.

What does the course involve?

Theme 1 - Marketing and people: Students will develop an understanding of meeting customer needs, the market, marketing mix and strategy, managing people, entrepreneurs and leaders

Theme 2 - Managing business: Students will develop an understanding of raising finance, financial planning, managing finance, resource management, external influences

Theme 3 - Business decisions and strategy: This theme develops the concepts introduced in Theme 2. Students will develop an understanding of business objectives and strategy, business growth, decision-making techniques, influences on business decisions, assessing competitiveness and managing change

Theme 4 - Global business: This theme develops the concepts introduced in Theme 1. Students will develop an understanding of globalisation, global markets and business, expansion, global marketing, global industries and companies, (multinational corporations)

Progression and Career Opportunities:
 
This is a versatile course that opens up many opportunities, such as Business Management and Analysis, Politics, Human Resources and Business Law. Careers in marketing, sales and accounting provide good progression routes from this qualification. Business at a degree level comes in different guises, from a straight Business degree to Business Administration, Business Law, Business and Marketing and Business and Politics.
