What is the programme structure?NVQ Level 3 Hairdressing functional skills: English and Maths and employment rights and responsibilities.What does the programme include?The units covered within this programme include:. Ensure your own actions to reduce risks to health and safety. Promote additional products or services to clients. Provide Hairdressing consultation services. Create a variety of looks using a combination of cutting techniques. Develop and enhance your creative hairdressing skills. Style and dress long hair. Colour hair using a variety of techniques. Contribute to the planning and implementation of promotional activities. Colour correctionVisits:The section offers the opportunity to visit exhibitions and competitions throughout the year.

Entry requirements

NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing or equivalent. Motivated and committed students over 17, employed as a junior stylist working on clients. There are opportunities for Accreditation of Prior Hairdressing knowledge and skills.

Assessment

Assessment is continuous by observation of practical skills, oral questioning, on-line tests. There is the opportunity for Accreditation of Prior Learning. Financial information

The Hairdressing Apprentices use modern, fully equipped training workshops and salons. The 'Enhance' salon at the college is open to the public, providing a range of professional services. In addition, the college has a wide range of facilities available to trainees, such as the Learning Resource Centre with access to computers. Trainees can also access lots of support such as careers guidance, counselling and financial help.Will there be any extra costs involved?Students must provide a kit of essential equipment. Students are required to wear all black uniform.

Future opportunities

Successful students may progress to assessor award, NVQ Level 4 Management or a Foundation Degree.
