Pre-Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (Design and Media) at Ravensbourne
If you have just completed your GCSEs or AS Levels and are looking to focus on digital media and design, then this course could be your next move.
If you know that you wish to study for a career in the creative economy and are looking for an alternative to AS or A2 study, this course is for you. The advantage in joining Ravensbourne at this stage is studying in a university sector environment that
offers excellent specialist facilities and teaching professionals, many of whom work in the creative industries.
The course provides you with an immersive design and media experience beginning with a diagnostics period and then progressing, though a period of experimentation, interaction and reflection, to a more focused and specialised approach later on in the qualification.
It also seeks to ensure that you develop the knowledge, skills, understanding and confidence required for working independently at higher study.
This contains compulsory units and covers: drawing; research – primary and secondary, and presentation skills.
Introduces you to specialist areas within digital media and design including: fashion and textiles; 3D design; graphic design; animation and photography; broadcasting and film disciplines.
Students will select a lead subject area for a six-week major study.
Students for the Pre-Foundation Diploma are normally expected to possess:
5 GCSEs, grade C or above, including English and Maths, or
Level 3 Foundation skills in English and Maths
On successful completion, you can progress onto one of our Foundation Diplomas and are guaranteed entry if you are recommended by our further education academic staff. Subject to final grades, this course is equivalent to two A levels.
