Art (Textiles) at Eggbuckland Community College
Students will learn to use imagination, creative thinking and problem solving; all skills essential in any workplace and in every career. They will learn to develop their own design ideas and how to translate these using textiles techniques. This syllabus allows students to work in a wide range of contexts relating to their personal interests.Students will enjoy recording from personal observation either by photographs or by drawing and then exploring their own design ideas. They will be taught a wide range of textile techniques to carry out their design ideas ranging from dyeing and manipulating fabrics, hand and machine embroidery to weaving, felt making and screen printing.Students will explore their ideas and present their work in an annotated sketchbook in which they will also make connections with historical and contemporary Textile artists and movements. Work will be exhibited as part of the Summer Show at the end of the academic year and students will have the opportunity to visit local and national exhibitions.
Grade C or above in GCSE Fine Art, 3D and/or Textiles and GCSE English An aptitude for creativity, problem solving and independent learning The ability to complete coursework and exams to a deadline
