Art and Design A Level at East Riding College

Course description

This course enables students to study a wide range of art and design subjects including graphics, print making, photography, film studies and textiles. Through creative projects and experimental workshops you will experience a variety of art and design media techniques which will allow you to broaden your own visual experiences and extend your art and design skills by providing practical experience of the developmental cycle that underpins creative projects.

Throughout the programme, there are visits to galleries, workshops, museums, exhibitions and places of specific interest to extend your awareness of the wide range of contemporary culture.

You can study this subject for one year and earn an AS-level or for two years and earn an A2-level.

Entry requirements

Five GCSEs grade A* to C including a minimum of grade C in GCSE English or English Literature, or equivalent qualifications.

Successful interview demonstrating motivation and commitment to the course and an initial assessment.


You will be assessed through a portfolio of written work.

Future opportunities

You could progress onto degress in art, design, fashion, film and photography or our Higher National Diploma in Art and Design.
