Music is a worthwhile, satisfying course which broadens experience as a performer, as an informed member of an audience and a composer. It also develops imagination, fosters creativity and promotes personal and social development.
The course equips students with a uniquely powerful set of tools which are becoming increasingly important for success at work, entry into higher education and lifelong enjoyment of music. This course can also be tailored to meet the demands of our learners.

Unit 3 Interpreting Musical Ideas - solo & ensemble performance folios
Unit 4 Music in Context - study of set works
Unit 5 Developing Musical Ideas - composition task
Unit 6 A Musical Performance - solo performance folio
Other units will be chosen in consideration of the individual needs of the students.
As long as you are able to play an instrument or sing to Grade 5 standard when starting Year 12, and have a solid knowledge of music theory, it is not essential to have taken GCSE or BTEC Level 2 Music.

Unit 6 A Musical Performance 10-15min externally assessed solo performance folio 15% of A Level
