Chemistry A Level at Sunderland College

Course description

This course is ideal if you are interested and intrigued by science and are keen to develop an understanding of the world of atoms, molecules and chemical reactions.

Course content

This course covers a range of topics including:

  • Organic Chemistry
  • Physical Chemistry
  • Inorganic Chemistry
  • Practical Chemistry

 

Entry requirements

You’ll need a minimum of five GCSEs at grade C or above including grade B (or above) in Chemistry, another Science subject and Mathematics.

If students have not studied separate science subjects then the course requires at least grade B in Core Science and grade B in Additional Science, as well as a grade B in Mathematics.

 

Assessment

On this course you will learn through theoretical lessons with practical work inside and outside of the classroom.

Future opportunities

A-level Chemistry opens the door to a range of careers in areas like pharmacy, medicine, nursing, radiography and even law.

The course will give you the scientific discipline needed to study higher education science at Sunderland College or university or get an entry level position in the industry.
