Health and Social Care BTEC Level 2 at Bath College

Course description

This practical, work-related course is an introduction to professional work in the health and social care sector. It is suitable for school leavers and mature learners, with or without care experience.

This course is available at the City Centre Campus and the Somer Valley Campus.

Course content

There are six academic units to study and some opportunity for practical work experience.

Topics may include:

  • Communication and rights
  • Individual needs in health and social care
  • Cultural diversity in health and social care
  • Vocational experience in health and social care
  • Human lifespan development
  • Health and social care services

Entry requirements

Four full GCSE’s at grade D or above including English language and maths; or a BTEC Level 1 Certificate / Diploma in a related subject, or relevant work experience.
Interview with course leader.

You will be assessed via coursework and assessment in related settings.

Future opportunities

Progress to the Health and Social Care Level 3 course or to the Children’ s Care, Learning and Development Level 3 course.

Move on to employment in the health and social care sector.
