Art & Design (Textiles) A Level at Strode's College

Course description

This is an exciting, practical course which will allow you to build your textile skills in the first year. You will be able to explore textiles through Fashion, Interiors and Textile Art. You will develop your understanding of design through the use of drawings, samples and the study of other artists and designers work. This will lead to the making of a final piece. In the later stages of the course you will refine your use of skills and techniques to produce a portfolio focusing on your chosen area of textiles.

Entry requirements

General entry requirements for a Level 3 Pathway. Plus C in an Art-related GCSE subject or Merit in Level 2 Art or Design BTEC.

Assessment

Units 1 and 3: worth 60% coursework Units 2 and 4: worth 40% externally set assignment with practical timed exams.

College Art and Design Exhibition and visit Art Exhibitions and workshops.

Future opportunities

This course helps students to prepare a portfolio for work in the Creative Industries, or for entry on to Art Foundation Diploma and specialist art degrees at Art College.
