Performing Arts BTEC Level 3 Diploma at Ivybridge Community College

Course description

This two-year course provides an excellent stepping stone for those wishing to pursue a career in the Performing Arts, or would like to progress onto an appropriately related course or occupation. This course will lead to a Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts (equivalent to two A Levels) and can be studied alongside two additional A Levels.

As well as providing students with the opportunity to learn, enhance, and combine various Performing Arts skills, such as acting, directing, dance and singing, the course also offers students a unique insight into working within the Performing Arts industry. Students will work together, in a similar way to that of a professional performance company, to produce a variety of exciting performances.

The EDEXCEL BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts is a 120 credit and 720 guided learning hours (GLH) qualification that consists of three core units plus eight specialist units.

Core Units:

Performance Workshop (10 credits / 60 GLH)

Performing Arts Business (10 credits / 60 GLH)

Performing to an Audience (10 credits / 60 GLH)

Specialist Units:

Examples include

Contemporary Theatre Performance (10 credits /60 GLH)

Musical Theatre Performance (10 credits / 60 GLH)

Developing Movement Skills (10 credits / 60 GLH)

Entry requirements

4 or more GCSEs at grade C or above, or, otherrelated Level 2 qualifications, such as BTEC Firstqualification / GNVQ Intermediate in anappropriate vocational area / related workexperience.In special circumstances students are eligiblethrough good references and perceivedsuitability. These students may be placed on a trialbasis until they can prove they are able to copewith the demands of the course.Applicants will be expected to audition in order toassess their suitability for this course.
