Course description

Build yourself a career in brickwork with this programme taught by specialists from industry and delivered in spacious workshops using state of the art equipment.

Course content

What you will study

Six NVQ Diploma units from the Construction Skills Diploma scheme.
Construction Skills Diploma Level 1 and 2.
Functional Skills in English and Maths.

Your Course Structure

Classroom 50%;Workshop 50%

How you will learn

Through tutor-led practical and theory sessions, with some self study using learning packages.

Entry requirements

You will need to be in employment in Bricklaying in order to undertake this course.
This will be discussed at interview. However, you will need Level 1 literacy and numeracy qualifications. If you do not have the relevant level of qualification, we can assess your current level of literacy and/or numeracy

Assessment

You will be assessed by your tutor after completing each unit of study through online tests and workshop exercises.

Financial information

Tuition and certification are free if you are aged 16-18 years old. Related additional costs may include materials, equipment, visits, residentials etc which are payable by all students.
Any student entered/registered with an Awarding Body who has been given free entry and then withdraws or is withdrawn by a tutor will incur the certification fee associated with the course. Any resit examination will incur a cost.

Future opportunities

Further study

Progression onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.

Career opportunities

Once qualified to Level 2 apprentice status work can be carried out as a subcontractor or a site based bricklayer. There is the opportunity to progress to Level 3 and the prospect of becoming a site manager or running your own business.
