Course description

Please note this course is taught at Blatchington Mill Sixth Form.

Health and Social Care is the perfect subject if you are considering any career pathway in the health sector. The course offers an insight into many of the challenges health care workers face and it encourages students to consider practical solutions to the health-related dilemmas that society faces.

Course content

The course is diverse, looking at such areas as how human beings develop throughout their lives, issues of diversity and equality, provision for mental health and how to provide care for an ageing population. Students are encouraged to consider practical solutions to these difficult issues we face in society and to empathise with the needs of others. If people interest you, this may be the foundation for your future career.

Entry requirements

GCSE (Grade C or above) in English language


The full two year course has 4 assessed units. Two of these will be assessed internally and two by external moderators. Assessment will be a combination of written and practical performance for each unit.
