Employability skills and Maths and English at Aspire-Igen

Course description

A 112 hour programme for young people who are undecided on their career path and who also need to achieve maths and/or English to progress. The programme will focus on achieving a maths and/or English qualification, setting realistic and achievable short term and long term career goals and giving support to reach those goals. The young people will experience the world or work through employer visits and work experience and have the opportunity to gain a work related qualification: health and safety, manual handling, first aid or food hygiene. The young people will build on their employability skills (appropriate behaviour, appearance, internal and external customers, business principles) and will have assistance with applications and interviews (ensure right clothes, practice interview, researching the company, taking the young person to the interview etc) and support and strategies to ensure the young person remains in their job/training/apprenticeship. Attendance for 2 days per week (14 hours per week) for 8 weeks at Blyth Community Enterprise Centre. Aged 16-18.
