Sport BTEC Level 3 at Guru Nanak Sikh Voluntary Aided Secondary School

Course description

This qualification is ideal for students who have a keen interest in Sport, aiming to progress to higher education and ultimately to employment in the sport sector. Students will learn by completing a series of coursework and exams through modules. They will be able to develop their skills in ICT and relate knowledge to Biology. The qualification is equivalent in size to one A Level, and will be delivered over two years.

Entry requirements

C grade in GCSE PE

A keen interest in Science, in particular Biology would be useful


All units are assessed, moderated and an overall grade for the qualification is awarded. This will be through exams, assignments and work place situations. Each unit will be individually grades as ‘pass’, ‘merit’ or ‘distinction’. To achieve a pass grade the learners must meet the assessment criteria set out in the specifications. Each unit contains statements of the evidence that each learner should produce in order to achieve a pass. Merit and distinction grades are awarded for higher level achievement . The grade equivalent are as follows:

Pass = C grade
Merit = B grade
Distinction = A grade
