Sociology AS/A2 at St John Bosco Arts College

Course description

Sociology is about acquiring knowledge and analyzing the social world in which we all live. In sociology you will develop skills in organization and learn to present information, ideas, descriptions and arguments.

AS/A2 touch upon a number of different areas and issues within Sociology.

There are four units taught over the two years:

Unit 1 –Families and Households

Unit 2 – Education with Research Methods

Unit 3 – Global Development

Unit 4 – Crime and Deviance with Theory and Methods

Entry requirements

GCSE English

Assessment

The course has four exams over the two years.

Units one and three are both 1hour 30mins long each contributing 20% to the overall grade. Units two and four are 2 hours long with both contributing 30% to the overall grade.
