Electrical Installation Diploma Level 2 at West Suffolk College

Course description

This course provides the level two technical and knowledge units for people seeking a career in the electrotechnical industry as an electrician. This 36 week programme also includes practical work in our workshops using industry standard equipment.

Successful completion of this course will give you a recognised qualification that can help towards obtaining an apprenticeship.

 

Course content

This diploma has five mandatory units:

  • Health and safety
  • Principles of Electrical Science
  • Electrical Installations Technology
  • Installation of Wiring Systems and Enclosures
  • Communication within Building Services Environment

This course is assessed by multiple choice exams and practical assessments.

Any student aged 16 to 19 who does not hold a GCSE A* to C (9 to 4 on the new grading structure) or equivalent qualifications in Maths and English by age 16 will need to continue to study these subjects in each academic year.

 

Entry requirements

Four GCSE’s Grade D or above, including maths or English at Grade D (3). It is expected that the applicant will have a genuine interest in the industry and each applicant will be required to attend an interview to ascertain his/her suitability for the course as well as take a short aptitude test.

City and Guilds Electrotechnical Craft Level 2
