Hospitality Level 2 Apprenticeship at Swindon College

Course description

This course is suitable for people employed in the hospitality industry and deal with small-site accommodation services where a set of skills allow them to perform a large range of functions. Job roles include customer service, food safety, team working, food preparation and cooking, food and beverage services, front of house reception and housekeeping. 

The course is modular in structure and credits must be achieved in the following units; Safe, Hygienic and Secure Working Environments in Hospitality, Effective Teamwork, Giving Customers a Positive Impression, Principles of Customer Service in Hospitality, Leisure, Travel and Tourism. 

In addition to the above units there are further units that are required to be taken dependent upon your job role and type of organisation in which you are employed. These can include; Food safety, Service of Food and Drinks, Principles of Producing Basic Dishes, Dealing with Bookings, Carrying out Room Service and Resolving Customer Service Problems. 

Entry requirements

The Apprenticeship is open to those aged 16+ who are employed in a suitable role and hold GCSEs (or equivalent) at grade D in English and Maths. You will also need to have the interest, enthusiasm and willingness to work hard. 

Please note that funding restrictions may apply to apprentices aged 19+. Also, Apprenticeship funding is currently not available for those who have a degree, HNC, HND or equivalent Level 4 or above qualification. This means you as the Apprentice would be liable for the full fees of the course.

• Material you collect 
• Accreditation of prior learning 
• Questions asked of you regarding your particular work situation

Future opportunities

On successful completion of the course a student may consider progression onto the Advanced Apprenticeship in Hospitality and Catering (Hospitality Supervision and Leadership) Level 3 or an Advanced Level Apprenticeship in Business and Administration or Customer Service - subject to entry requirements for these apprenticeship programmes.
