Carpentry and Joinery Diploma Level 3 at Lancaster and Morecambe College

Course description

This course is for students who wish to gain employment in the construction industry.

Course content

You will study the following:

• Assist in Establishing the Operational Area • Assist with Progressing Operations • Assist with Organising Resources • Produce Timber Products (Circular Saw) • Co-Ordinate and Install First Fixing and Second Fixing • Co-Ordinate and Erect Carcassing All LMC students will receive tutorial support. All students aged 16 -19 are required to study functional English and maths qualifications or GCSE maths and English if not already awarded an A*-C in these subjects. Students aged 19+ are strongly encouraged to take relevant maths and English qualifications to support progression into further or higher education, training or employment

Entry requirements

Level 2 qualification in Carpentry and Joinery and GCSE English and maths at grade A*-C. Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager. 


This course is continuously assessed using a range of methods including assignments, practical performance, examination, portfolio presentation and course work. 

Financial information

Students will be expected to pay £50.00 prior to the start of the course. This includes personal protective equipment and stationery which will be required for the course.

Future opportunities

The course can lead onto a Carpentry and Joinery Apprenticeship, employment, HNC (Higher National Certificate) or Foundation Degree – Built Environment.

Further information

On completion of this course you will receive Level 3 Diploma in Wood Occupations.

You will be expected to undertake occasional home study on this course.
