Core Mathematics at Runshaw College

Course description

This course is particularly suitable for those students who are doing the following A-Level subjects; Psychology, Economics, Business studies, Chemistry, Biology, Geography, Computer science and are not planning on doing A Level Maths alongside. The course content provides support with the maths content in these subjects.


The course is also suitable for students that enjoy maths but are not doing an A Level in Mathematics.


The course has a more problem solving approach with real world maths applications that are required in the above subjects


Some examples of what you will cover:

  • Analysis of data

  • Maths for personal finance

  • Statistics and probability

  • Critical analysis of given data and models (including spreadsheets and tabular data)

Entry requirements

You will require a minimum of a Grade 5 in Mathematics.

The course will be on the A Level programme and hence admission on to the course will be subject to meeting the minimum A Level entry requirement of 5 x GCSE Grade B or equivalent.
