Psychology A2 at Grange Technology College

Course description

A2 Psychology follows on from AS in the A2, you'll focus on specific areas such as Crime and Education and see how psychological theories apply to them. You will also examine how psychologists construct experiments and gain experience by doing this.

Course content

You will study 2 modules. The first is a specialist topics module, consisting of in depth learning about the psychology of crime and of education. The second is a theory and methods module which looks in details at the way in which psychology theory impacts on pyschological methods.

Entry requirements

Students for A2 should have a pass at AS level at A-D. A grade D or above is desirable to rise to the challenges of A2.

Assessment

Students sit 2 exams in their A2 course,both in June.

Progression Routes

Psychologists work in almost every type of modern working environment therefore psychology can prepare the student to work with people directly - in jobs such as teaching or personnel management. It can lead to further study at university in related areas such as medicine, law, social work, social policy, nursing, and advertising. The list is endless!Many psychology A2 students go on to study psychology at university and then to use their skills in the wider world.
