Plumbing Intermediate and Advanced Apprenticeship Level 2 at Exeter College

Course description

The Apprenticeship in Plumbing offers a practical approach and a solid platform for anyone wishing to develop a career in plumbing.

This apprenticeship is for anyone working within the industry. As an apprentice you will hold a full-time job and attend college on day release.

The Advanced Apprenticeship is a Level 3 qualification and is an additional 2 years.

Course content

You will be trained to meet industry standards and will cover all the required foundation skills, including domestic piping, the domestic water system, soldering and health and safety. The advanced course will further develop your knowledge and skills including more advanced and complex areas such as gas safety, pressurised hot water and water regulations.

Part of this qualification will be assessed in the workplace to show your competence, knowledge and understanding of business tasks and procedures, and to prove you are able to carry out your job to the required standards.  All of this will provide evidence towards a framework of qualifications which make up the apprenticeship.

Entry requirements

For the Intermediate Apprenticeship you must be in full-time employment and have Maths and English at GCSE Grade C or above with preferably a C or above in Science. It will also be necessary for you to complete an initial assessment at college as part of the application process.

Financial information

You need safety boots, overalls and recommended text books.

Future opportunities

On completion of the Advanced Apprenticeship you may consider going on to study a Level 3 Diploma in Construction which could lead to university. You will also be fully qualified to work on the installation and maintenance of gas boilers etc.
