Spanish at Longbenton Community College

Course description

The course aims to extend your command of the language through listening, reading, writing and speaking. You will also develop your understanding of the culture and society of countries where French/Spanish is spoken.

YEAR 1: You will study:

Aspects of French/Spanish speaking society: current trends

Artistic culture in the French/Spanish speaking world

Grammar

One text or one film

YEAR 2: You will study:

One text and one film or two texts

Social issues and trends

Political and artistic culture

Grammar

We use an interactive course which gives you the opportunity to work online at home or in school at your own pace. You will also undertake an individual research project.

Entry requirements

At least 5 GCSE grades A* to C including a grade B at GCSE in French,German or Spanish.

Assessment

AS Level – 3 exams (1 covers speaking, 1 covers listening, reading and writing and 1 further writing exam)

A Level – 1 speaking, 1 covering listening, reading and writing and 1 further writing exam.

In the listening tests you have personal control of the listening equipment.
