Drama and Theatre Studies at The Henry Box School

Course description

The emphasis in Drama is on practical work, undertaken individually, in groups and as a class ensemble. Broadly students are given the chance to develop their skills in making plays, playing a part, designing and creating, organising and structuring work, performing and responding.

The specific disciplines we focus on include:

  • Improvisation
  • Movement
  • Speech
  • Theatre Studies
  • Scripted Acting
  • Playwriting
  • Design and Technical

Students taking Drama and Theatre Studies at A level have regular opportunities to make use of these skills. Students in years 11, 12 and 13 are required to produce public performances as part of their assessment and these presentations are wonderful showcases of new, young talent.

Entry requirements

The A-level courses are academically demanding and in order to cope successfully students must have achieved good GCSE results. Our minimum entry requirement is therefore an average of 42 GCSE points, including a 'C' grade in English Language. As a general guide, most subjects require a minimum GCSE grade B in the subject to be studied.
