Wall and Floor Tiling - CSkills Awards Level 2 Diploma Wall & Floor Tiling at Calderdale College

Course description

A level 2 diploma will enable the learner to acquire the knowledge and understanding that will help them to gain employment in the trade.

Course content

This is a practical and theory based course which consists of you working through a number of work based units such as: Building methods and construction technology; Form sand and cement screeds; Prepare backgrounds for tiling; Know how to tile floor surfaces; Know how to tile wall surfaces There are 8 units in total to complete which includes an external test at the end of the course. At the end of this qualification you will be considered fully qualified and you will have a good degree of knowledge of Wall and Floor tiling and will be able to work on site. Assessment is through observation and written tests.

Teaching is mainly practically based with lectures and demonstrations in the specialist workshops.  Learners will also participate in individual and group tutorials in order to discuss their progress.

Entry requirements

An introductory course suitable for beginners. School leavers should aim for at least 4 GCSEs at grades E-G. Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered following an assessment.  All applicants will be required to pass an aptitude entry test which is run by the college.

Financial information

In most cases students aged 18 and under who wish to enrol on a full time further education course will have their fees waived.  Students who are aged 19 and over and who wish to enrol on a full time course should contact our Student Services Team on 01422-399367 for more information.

Future opportunities

You will be considered fully qualified and you will have a good degree of knowledge of Wall and Floor tiling and will be able to work on site. Assessment is through observation and written tests.  Many have chosen to become self-employed at this stage due to the knowledge they have gained from the course.
