Course description


Motorsport engineering is one of the UK’s most successful industries with over 40,000 people employed in teams from around the world choosing the UK as their based.

There are great employment opportunities for young people who are really keen to learn and get involved.

At NSETC you will have the unique opportunity to engage with the motorsport industry through links with specialists such as Castle Coombe race team, Club Rallysport West and Bloodhound SSC.

Entry requirements

Level 2 – you will need 4 GCSEs C-E
Level 3 – you will need 5 GCSEs A*-C

Future opportunities

This course will enable you to progress onto master technician (workshop technical manager level) or into Higher Education to a BSc or BEng.

This qualification supports you to:

  • Acquire transferable skills required to work within a range of job roles with both the motorsport industry and other sectors
  • Acquire a detailed and comprehensive specialist technical knowledge core, as well as providing the opportunity to develop their academic and study skills to support progression onto further qualifications and potential employment
  • Acquire advanced level specialist technical skills: Diagnosis of complex system faults, advanced systems operation, overhauling mechanical units, enhancing motorsport vehicle system features.

At Level 3, this qualification enables direct entry to university.
