Design & Technology Product Design - Graphic Products at Guru Nanak Sikh Academy

Course description

The course is split into 4 units. Units 1 and 2 make up the specification for the AS course. Candidates who will successfully complete the AS modules may choose to take the subject further at A2 Level by studying further units 3 and 4. A2 Specification: Unit 3 - Externally assessed exam 1 hour 30 minutes * Information communication technology, digital special effects, Biotechnology. * Systems and control - CIM, FMS, Robotics, AI, Flow charts. * Design in context - technological change, history of design, form & function. * Anthropometrics and ergonomics. * Sustainability _ Life cycle assessment, cleaner D&T, Minimising waste production, renewable & non renewable sources of energy, responsibility of developed countries. Unit 4 - Internally assessed - Commercial Design * Students are given the opportunity to apply the skills they have acquired and developed throughout the course of study, and design and make a product of their choice.
