Course description

This course is designed to provide you with opportunities for ownership when developing an area of personal interest and gain a recognized qualification which attracts UCAS points. The qualification is designed to provide you with excellent and relevant preparation for the world of work, and to develop your research skills to enable the successful management of work or study related projects.

Course content

You will take full creative control of designing your study at EPQ working alongside your supervisor to ensure the work you are producing is of a high academic quality. You will work on a topic personally chosen by you, carrying out the type of project you feel most comfortable with. The project allows you to express yourself as an individual whilst linking your study into a further analytical stage. You can complete written work or produce an artefact which will contribute to the main learning goal of the project, thus EPQ is a qualification that suits either theoretical or practically able students.

Entry requirements

A minimum of 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above. Grade B or above in English Language.

Assessment

You will be taught in a theoretical and practical setting and assessed via written assignments or by production of artefacts which will be assessed.

Future opportunities

Your successes in this subject can lead to gaining UCAS points that will contribute towards your overall points total. Universities look fondly upon the EPQ qualification as the skills and knowledge you acquire when completing your studies transfer directly into higher education when reading for a degree.
