Food Technology GCSE at New Rickstones Academy

Course description

You should have a passion for all aspects of food technology which combines the practical element with science. You will need knowledge of good health and safety practice, you must be able to demonstrate competence in a range of practical food skills, methods and processes to produce quality outcomes. You must be prepared to work in a group and independently. You must also have good time management and personal organisation skills, these are essential if deadlines are to be met successfully.

What are the future pathways and opportunities that are available when studying your subject?

Food technologists can get involved in developing the manufacturing processes and recipes of food and drink products. They may work on existing and newly discovered ingredients and technologies to invent new recipes and concepts, as well as modify foods to create, for example, fatfree products and ready meals. They often work closely with the product development teams to help deliver factory ready recipes based on the development kitchen samples.
