Hairdressing City & Guilds Foundation Diploma Level 1 at Fareham College

Course description

On this full-time vocational course you will learn practical skills and carry out assignments and exams on a variety of hairdressing-related subjects.

You will develop sound skills that prepare you for a career in a salon, including teamwork and client relations. It is recommended that you have a salon placement.

 

Course content

  • The art of dressing hair

  • Styling men and women’s hair

  • Shampoo and conditioning

  • Colouring hair (temporary)

  • Hair plaiting

  • Presenting a professional image in the salon

  • Reception duties

  • Health and safety in the salon

  • Effective teamwork

  • Working relationships with clients and customers

 

Entry requirements

  • Maths and English at E3.
  • You must be committed to: 100% attendance, excellent punctuality and be willing to work hard.
  • Entry is dependent upon a successful interview.

Assessment

You will be assessed on each unit of study. Additional costs for this course should be noted

Financial information

One or two (depending on course) salon uniforms, kits & textbooks are essential requirements of our courses. A list is available on request and students may purchase these through the College. You may incur additional costs while on work placements.

Future opportunities

You may progress onto Level 2 Hairdressing or Level 2 Beauty Therapy programmes upon successful completion of this course.

Continuous training is a feature of this profession if you want to develop a full career. This qualification will equip you with the skills to gain employment as a junior assistant in a beauty therapy or hairdressing setting.
