L3 Diploma in Criminology at Garforth Academy

Course description

Criminology combines elements of Sociology, Law and Psychology to create a qualification that is relevant to many job roles within the criminal justice sector. Like with A-Levels, the criminology diploma requires a mixture of exam and controlled assessment tasks but with a more balanced weighting. The range of topics provides a detailed insight into criminology and prepares students for further study on a number of related degree courses.

Course content

The L3 Diploma is a new course designed for students who wish to combine elements of Sociology, Psychology and Law. It explores a number of criminal and crime related topics designed to make students aware of the processes and theories behind the criminal justice sector. This includes specific units on Changing awareness of crime; Criminological theories; Crime scene to Courtroom and Crime and Punishment.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grades 9-4

Grade 4 in GCSE English Language.

Assessment

50% Exam (2 Papers)

50% Non-Exam Assessment
