Art and Design Level 2 BTEC Extended Certificate at Buxton & Leek College

Course description

This one year course is aimed at students who wish to develop their art and design skills. The course covers drawing techniques, painting, mixed media, textiles and ceramic/ 3D design skills which are underpinned by contextual studies that look at a range of art and design influences, which will introduce you to new approaches to creative practice and learning.

Taught by enthusiastic and supportive staff who are visual practitioners with a range of expertise, this course introduces you to the fundamental skills required to progress on to the Level 3 courses whilst developing skills that meet the needs of an employer.

The course revolves around a set of working briefs that incorporate the required unit criteria giving the students a variety of tasks which explore and develop a wide range of skills and competences.

Students have weekly tutorial sessions to support their personal development. Work is assessed on a regular and continuous basis and progress is recorded at each formal assessment point. You will be given supportive feedback on assessment decisions to enable you to develop and improve the quality of your work and achieve the unit assessment criteria.
