Health & Social Care (Adults) for England (QCF) CACHE Level 2 Diploma at The City of Liverpool College

Course description

This course is suitable for all individuals working in Health Care, Residential Care, Supported Living or Day Centres who work under supervision. The course will provide candidates with the opportunity to gain a level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care and licence to practice within the Health & Social Care setting. This course will enable the student to gain a better understanding of client needs, providing care and support.

Level 2 Diploma in Health and Social Care focuses on both Health and Care settings, provision of care and support of client needs and maintaining client independence as well as theories and perspectives within Health and Social Care.

Course content

Nine Mandatory core units are to be completed to achieve 24 credits and an extensive choice of specialist knowledge and competence units to achieve the required 46 credits overall. These can be achieved through three Pathways; Generic, Dementia and Learning Disability

Some examples of specialist knowledge and competence units are;

  • Dementia Awareness
  • Understand the Context of Supporting an individual with Learning Disabilities
  • Provide Food and drink
  • Provide Active Support

Elements of this Diploma are competence work based and all Level 2 Diplomas in Health and Social care require work competence assessment. Employers will be required to be engaged in the assessment process regarding support of assessor visits and assessment appointments. Some areas of the Diploma are context specialist knowledge based so there is a level of independent learning expected. This can be achieved through the completion of workbooks and case studies which will provide evidence.

As this course is work based there is a level of independent learning expected through the completion of work books which will provide the underpinning knowledge.

Entry requirements

Students will be required to undertake assessments in literacy and numeracy. Applicants are required to be employed or volunteering for at least 6 months within a Health & Social Care setting.

Future opportunities

The Level 2 Diploma in Health & Social Care will provide you with a Licence to Practice within the Health & Social Care sector and will support staff development needs within the sector. The course may allow students to progress to a level 3 course is dependent on the student’s role within the organisation.
