Bricklaying Cskills Level 3 Diploma at Bedford College

Course description

This Level 3 Brickwork course will provide you with the training and experience you will require to develop advanced brickwork skills to an industry-recognised standard, along with the additional skills required for supervisory roles.

Course content

During the course you will study a range of topics, including:

  • Knowing how to carry out safe working practices in construction
  • Knowledge of information, quantities and communicating with others
  • Knowledge of building methods and construction technology
  • Knowing how to carry out structural and decorative brickwork
  • Knowing how to repair and maintain masonry structures
  • Knowing how to erect complex masonry structures.

Entry requirements

To begin this course you will need to have successfully completed the Brickwork Level 2 course with Functional Skills, or an equivalent qualification. Entry will also be subject to a successful interview, where you will be asked to complete a skills assessment.


Assessment is continuous through each unit of training and throughout the programme.

Financial information

This course could be free! You will be eligible if you are aged 19-24 on the 31st August of the year you are starting your course and are actively seeking employment and in receipt of a means tested benefit (such as job seekers, housing benefit, council tax benefit). Please note you will need to be able to produce evidence of the benefit in your name when you come to enrol.

If you are aged 24 or over you may qualify for a 24+ Advanced Learning Loan to help you pay the tuition fees for this course. Alternatively, you can pay by instalments to help make the cost of this course more affordable. 

Future opportunities

On successful completion of this course you could progress into employment as a bricklayer, or in a supervisory role within the trade. In addition you could collect work-based evidence, which can be converted into an NVQ Level 3.

Further information

To take part in this course you will be required to pay £20 for uniform/equipment and £20 for a course textbook to aid your studies. You will also need to pay £10 to attend educational event(s) that complement your course.
