Course description

Students who have an active interest in sport and who wish to achieve an academic qualification to supplement their practical knowledge. You should be motivated and keen to take on new ideas. Although this course has its background in the academic field there are practical elements attached which would require a reasonable level of fitness.

Course content

AS/A2 Physical Education – Topics

Aerobic / Anaerobic energy systems, Muscles, Performance enhancing drugs, Specialised training, Sports injuries, Mechanical concepts, Application of force. Personality, Arousal, Anxiety, Behaviour, World games, Olympic heal, Deviance in sport. – Exam – Practical / Written Coursework

Assessment

AS/A2 Physical Education – Exam / Practical performance & coursework

Possible careers include: PE Teacher, Coach, Sports Management, any careers in sport
