WorkSkills BTEC Certificate (L2) at The Piggott School

Course description

This is a one year course with the qualification equivalent to 1 GCSE’s at grade B . Successful completion of a BTEC WorkSkills qualification, students will be armed the tools with which to successfully enter employment. BTEC qualifications are designed to provide specialist work - related qualifications in a range of sectors. Students will learn through a range of activities based both in the classroom and in the workplace. These activities include role plays, presentations and work experience. The BTEC WorkSkills course is designed to alongside other vocational qualifications on offer within the 6th form. Students will have dedicated lesson time and will also be able to draw on their experience and knowledge from their other courses to aid the completion of the units.


The assessment of the BTEC WorkSkills is portfolio based and allows learners to receive feedback on their progress throughout the course as they provide evidence towards the grading criteria. Evidence for assessment may be generated through a range of diverse activities including assignment and project work, case studies, workplace a ssessments, role play and oral presentation.
