Applied Science (Forensic Science) BTEC Level 3 National Certificate at Heworth Grange Comprehensive School

Course description

This certificate in Applied Science is a one A-level equivalent course, designed to provide a specialist workrelated qualification in applied Science.

The qualification provides the knowledge and understanding required to enter employment in science, or to continue in a science related qualification at higher education.

 

Course content

Over the two year course pupils will complete units in the core concepts of Biology, Chemistry and Physics that underpin applied science. They will also study and become confident in the application of a number of practical techniques used extensively in the applied Sciences. Students will also be able to apply mathematical relationships to these techniques.

The majority of the qualification will be carried out in school, however there will also be the opportunity to gain experience in the workplace and in higher education establishments in the region, including a visit to the Centre for Life labs to conduct CPR techniques.

Grade C Science related subject

Assessment

The qualification will be assessed by both internal assignments and external exams, with a weighting of 50 percent each.
