English Languageand Literature A Level at Moor Park High School and Sixth Form

Course description

Studying English Language and Literature
can offer you the chance to develop a
whole range of vital skills such as reading
critically, writing analytically and
responding creatively. The course will give
you an excellent grounding in a whole
range of literary texts. You’ll study one
play in close detail alongside poetry and
prose from different periods. You’ll also
have the chance to write creatively and to
learn about the way we communicate
through speech. We encourage group work
and class discussion - a feature of the
department which many students tell us is
particularly enjoyable and worthwhile.
The course combines many of the aspects
of the two other English A-levels and will
provide you with an excellent basis for
studying English at University

Entry requirements

You will need at least a grade B in GCSE English to start thiscourse, although eachapplication is taken on its merits.
