Course description

The emphasis in the examination is very much on the nee for students to develop skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing (both in a creative and practical contexts). They will be required to produce a wide range of work demonstrating their grasp of these skills, in line with the new examination regulations. Coursework: The coursework element in two subjects is as follows: *English 20% oral, 20% written *English Literature 30% Examination: *English 60% (Two examination papers) *English Literature 70% (One examination paper) Higher Tier - outcome grades A* -D Foundation Tier - outcome grades C - D A higher qualification in GCSE English is essential for University or Higher Education courses.

Future opportunities

You could take this course to prepare for advanced level courses such as an A/AS Level in English or you may need to strengthen your grades by completing a foundation or intermediate vocational qualification. With further training, you could go into a job related to English such as a Teacher, Journalist or Editor. You could also go straight into employment and do further training or part time study with the support of your employer.
