Mathematics *FEES PAYABLE* at Sackville School

Course description

For the AS you will study 3 modules with exams being taken at the end of
the year.
Pure mathematics:
Modules C1 and C2 (core) covers algebra, trigonometry, series, calculus
and co-ordinate geometry
Applied mathematics:
Module S1 (statistics) covers probability, averages, spread and skew,
correlation and regression, normal distribution
For the A2 you study three further modules:
Pure mathematics:
Modules C3 and C4 (core) covers pure mathematics topics to greater depth than previously studied
in the AS. Also logarithms, vectors and numerical methods are studied
Applied mathematics:
Module M1 (mechanics) covers simple linear motion, forces, Newton’s laws of motion, moments,
friction, impulse

Entry requirements

Have achieved at least a grade A in mathematics at GCSE. If you gain a grade B when a grade A was expected then you may be allowed to do the course if your year 11 teacher supports this application.
