Psychology A level at Monks Walk School

Course description

Psychology is the scientific study of human minds and behaviour, which not only allows you to study the theories behind why we behave and think in the ways we do, but also teaches you a great deal about your own thoughts and actions.

Psychology is a very broad subject, covering human behaviour in society, our mechanisms for learning, thinking and understanding our world, the development of children, the link between our brains and our bodies and the things that make individuals different from each other such as personality and mental illness.

Consequently, Psychology involves a substantial amount of Biological content and requires an understanding of scientific processes and mathematical techniques such as data handling, analysis and problem-solving.

Psychology requires extensive and structured extended writing in order to analyse and evaluate psychological theories and approaches using empirical research studies.
