Food & Beverage Service Apprenticeship at Lancaster and Morecambe College
As an Apprentice you really do get the best of both worlds; you will earn a salary and gain real experience in the workplace with your employer as well as working towards a nationally recognised NVQ and other qualifications. Apprenticeships are suitable for well motivated people who are focussed and know which career path they want to follow. They offer high quality work-based training as an alternative to full time study. This programme is aimed at people who are employed, or are seeking employment. You will need to be 16 years of age or over.
• Employment should be for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with training in the workplace • Assessor visits in the workplace every 3 – 4 weeks • Functional Skills level 1 maths and English • Employment Rights and Responsibilities • Technical Certificate
Level 2 Apprenticeship covers:
• Maintain safe, hygienic and secure working environment • Work effectively as part of a hospitality team • Maintain food safety when storing, preparing and cooking food • Give customers a positive impression of self and organisation • Plus a selection of other units including, serving food and or drinks, maintain cellars, provide a buffet carvery service, resolve customer service problems, prepare and clear areas for table service etc.
5 GCSEs at grade A*-D including English or maths OR a Level 1 related qualification. Relevant work experience will also be considered Entry criteria will be applied at the discretion of the course manager.
This course is continuously assessed in the workplace by portfolio building, on the job assessment, presentations and some exams.
Apprenticeship training is currently fully funded; however this is subject to change.
On completion of this course you will receive a Level 2 Apprenticeship in Food and Beverage Service.
Once you have gained employment you could start this programme at any time of the year.
