Health and Social Care Level 2 Diploma at Blackburn College

Course description

The Diploma in Health & Social Care Programme is for people interested in working within a Health & Social Care Setting. This is a full time course for 16-19 year old students who are interested in Health & social care. You will demonstrate how you meet a set of National Occupational Standards for the role of a health care worker and show that you have the level of skills and knowledge to complete your work effectively.

Course content

You will complete 9 mandatory units (24 credits) and various optional units from a wide choice. Each of the awards is based on an amount of Credits. Level 2 Diploma is made up of 46 credits Some of the topics you will cover will be:

  • Safeguarding
  • Equality, diversity and inclusion
  • Communication
  • Person Centred Care
  • Health & safety
  • The role of health and social care workers
  • communication in a health & social care setting
  • Duty of care in a health and social care setting 
  • Maths & English*

Entry requirements

To study at level 2 you will need 4 D Grades at GCSE including Maths and English.

Assessment

Within your study programme you will be assessed through academic, practical and group assignments associated to the workplace. You will be assessed by an approved assessor, who will visit you in your workplace to observe and assess your practical work. You will submit a portfolio of evidence to demonstrate your knowledge and understanding.

Future opportunities

You can progress on to the Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care dependant on your grades, placement report and tutor reference.
